If we make it possible for users to see how much their usage is costing us, then it'll be easier for us to ask them to donate in a meaningful way. -For instance they'll be able to see that they cost us a few bucks, so asking for a few in light of that info should be more convincing than a popup that dumbly asks everyone the same thing.

Tracking costs like this also makes it possible for us to distribute costs more equitably. For instance, we can limit only users who spend way more than everyone else. -We can also attach links to request fee waivers for low income users.

The cost display should be somewhere easy to find, like in the drop down menu they see when they click on their name, in the nav bar on the upper right corner.
